Assessments
Are you currently offering assessments?
Yes. Focus Gently is now live and accepting enquiries for private adult ADHD assessments and medication-related appointments.
Who will conduct my ADHD assessment?
Assessments are carried out by qualified clinicians with ADHD-specific experience. Where medication is considered, this will be reviewed by a clinician with prescribing competence and appropriate clinical governance.
Can I be prescribed ADHD medication privately?
Yes, where clinically appropriate. Medication is not guaranteed and depends on the outcome of clinical assessment, medical history, safety checks, baseline observations, risk assessment, and shared decision-making.
Do I need an existing ADHD diagnosis?
No. You can book an ADHD assessment if you are seeking a diagnosis. If you already have a diagnosis, you may be able to book a medication review or treatment planning appointment instead.
What happens after my assessment?
You will receive a clear clinical outcome and recommended next steps. This may include a diagnostic report, treatment planning, medication options where appropriate, lifestyle and psychoeducation advice, and communication with your GP where clinically relevant.
Medication support
What checks are needed before medication?
Before ADHD medication is started, we may need information such as your blood pressure, pulse, weight, height, medical history, mental health history, current medication, substance use history, and any relevant cardiac or physical health risks.
Is medication guaranteed after assessment?
No. ADHD medication is only prescribed where it is clinically appropriate and safe. Some people may need further information, GP input, physical observations, or specialist advice before medication can be considered.
Can Focus Gently titrate ADHD medication?
Yes, where clinically appropriate. Titration involves starting medication, monitoring response and side effects, adjusting dose if needed, and reviewing physical observations and clinical progress.
Booking
How do I book an ADHD appointment?
Complete the booking or enquiry form on the website. The team will review your information and guide you to the most appropriate appointment type.
Will I be contacted after submitting the form?
Yes. We will contact you using the details provided to confirm the next steps, appointment suitability, and any information needed before booking.
When do I pay for my appointment?
Full payment is taken at the time of booking to secure your appointment. Once payment is confirmed, we’ll email your appointment details and secure joining link.
Can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?
Yes. If you reschedule or cancel with at least 48 hours’ notice, there’s no charge — we’ll move your appointment or refund you in full. To reschedule or cancel, contact us on 020 8798 0321 or at info@focusgently.com as early as you can.
What happens if I cancel late or miss my appointment?
If you cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice, or don’t attend, we retain £50 for assessments and the assessment-and-treatment package (or £20 for review appointments) to cover the reserved clinical time, and refund the balance. We may waive this once, at our discretion, where there’s a genuine reason such as a medical emergency.
Will I get a refund if I’m not diagnosed with ADHD?
Our assessment is a clinical service, and its value is in the expert evaluation and your outcome letter — not in receiving a particular diagnosis. So the assessment is provided in full and is chargeable whether or not ADHD is confirmed. For the combined assessment-and-treatment package, if a diagnosis isn’t confirmed or treatment isn’t clinically appropriate, the treatment-initiation part of the fee is refunded or credited.
What if you need to cancel my appointment?
If we ever need to cancel or reschedule, we’ll offer you the earliest suitable alternative or a full refund of that appointment’s fee.
Can I cancel my ongoing prescribing subscription?
Yes — there’s no minimum term and you can cancel at any time. Please note that cancelling ends prescribing through this service, so to avoid a gap in your medication, arrange alternative prescribing (for example, shared care with your GP) before you stop. Speak to us if you’d like support to do this safely.
